How to Harness the Power of Cosmic Habit Force

Karen Van Ness - Nov 2010

Do you have good habits?

Do you do things every day, or every week, that help improve your health, knowledge and wellbeing?

There is a lot of power in the practice of constructive habits. When I was younger, I did not appreciate how important they were.

I was more into the "live spontaneously" mode: wake up when I felt like it (when I wasn't in school or due at work, of course); eat when I felt like it; maybe work out today, maybe not, depending on what was going on, and so forth.

I think this was, in part, a streak of rebelliousness. My parents are very habit-conscious people. They pretty much get up, eat meals, do their activities, and go to bed at the same time, each and every day.

I saw this as boring, as too routine.

But as I got older, I started to appreciate the power of good habits.

For example, my parents are in their early seventies and still going strong. They've had their health scares, of course. But they are still vibrant and active. When I introduced regular, constructive practices into my life, I saw the difference it made in my productivity, my health, and even my enjoyment of life. I learned I could still be spontaneous at times, with no ill effects -- as long as I followed a solid routine on most days.

An excellent example of applying the power of habits is with your breathing and exercise regimen.

Performing your breathing exercises and workouts at the same time every day can make a profound difference in your vital capacity, energy levels, and health.

When you exercise at the same time every day, your body begins to look forward to it. It becomes used to the exertion every morning or every evening, depending on when you work out. As time goes on, this makes it easier to stick with your regimen. And sticking to a healthy regimen is a critical step in improving any health condition, whether chronic or acute, that you may be dealing with.

One the one hand, it provides you with a sense of control.

Even though one part or system of your body has gone out of whack, you can still exert ultimate control by deciding that you will perform your chosen activity, or take your supplements, every day. This can give you a huge boost, mentally and emotionally.

Beyond that, it can also accelerate improvements in your condition, and reduce anxiety and stress.

There is a lot written in old literature from the early 1900's about the power of daily habits. Many experts referred to habit force, or "cosmic habit force", to emphasize the power of following good habits.

A good routine can literally rocket launch your efforts toward improved health, expanding knowledge, and enhanced productivity.

By the way, if you are looking for a positive addition to your daily health habits and routine, then you should check out the Secret Power of Dynamic Energy Exercise Course, Volume 2: The Dynamic Energy Routine. The exercises are accessible to all, regardless of your present condition. And they are self-reinforcing - they "grow" with you as your condition and health improve.
